17 injured as car collides with tempo ferrying labourers in UP’s Gonda

Gonda (UP), Mar 25 (PTI) At least 17 people were injured after a tempo collided with a car here on Wednesday morning, police said.

The accident took place near Dhanauli on the Gonda-Utraula road when an allegedly uncontrolled car coming from the opposite direction hit the tempo carrying labourers, they said.

Gonda Station House Officer Bindeshwari Mani Tripathi said, “Many labourers had reached Gonda from Dehradun by train on Wednesday morning. They were going to Utraula via Dhanepur on a rented tempo,” he said.

Following the collision, a total of 17 passengers travelling in both vehicles were injured. Police teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby medical college for treatment.

“All the injured are undergoing treatment,” Tripathi said.

A case has been registered against the car driver, who was reportedly on his way to Lucknow for medical purposes, he said, adding that further investigation is underway. PTI COR CDN ARB ARB
