Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi Pad 2 in the Philippines, offering a glimpse into the features and specifications of its latest entry-level tablet ahead of its anticipated launch in India on June 18. The device boasts significant upgrades over its predecessor, including enhanced performance, display quality, and battery life.

Launch and Availability

The Redmi Pad 2 is scheduled to launch in India on June 18, 2025. In the Philippines, the tablet is available in two configurations:

– 6GB RAM + 128GB storage priced at PHP 10,499 (approximately ₹16,200)
– 8GB RAM + 256GB storage priced at PHP 12,999 (approximately ₹19,300)

The tablet comes in three color options: grey, light blue, and silver.

Display and Design

The Redmi Pad 2 features an 11-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, offering a higher 90Hz refresh rate and up to 600 nits of brightness. This marks an improvement over the original Redmi Pad, which had a slightly smaller 10.61-inch screen with the same refresh rate but lower resolution.

Performance and Hardware

Under the hood, the Redmi Pad 2 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultra chipset, an upgrade from the Helio G99 found in the original model. This new processor is expected to deliver better performance for day-to-day tasks, multitasking, and casual gaming. The tablet supports up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with the option for microSD expansion.

Audio and Connectivity

For audio, the Redmi Pad 2 comes equipped with quad speakers and Dolby Atmos support, maintaining one of the strong points of its predecessor. Notably, Xiaomi has added a 3.5mm headphone jack this time, a feature that was absent in the original Redmi Pad.

Camera and Software

In terms of photography, the front camera has been slightly downgraded to a 5-megapixel sensor, compared to the 8-megapixel front camera on the original model. The rear camera remains the same at 8 megapixels. The tablet runs on Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0 out of the box, a significant upgrade from the Android 12-based MIUI 13 that the original shipped with.

Battery and Charging

The Redmi Pad 2 is equipped with a robust 9,000mAh battery, offering extended usage times. It supports 18W fast charging, ensuring that users can quickly recharge the device when needed.

One of the best entry level tablet

With its enhanced display, improved performance, and substantial battery capacity, the Redmi Pad 2 positions itself as a compelling option in the entry-level tablet market. The inclusion of features like Dolby Atmos support and a 3.5mm headphone jack further adds to its appeal. As the Indian launch approaches, consumers can look forward to a device that offers a blend of functionality and affordability.
