On June 11, 2025, the trailer for Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness, starring Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal, and Suhail Nayyar, was released, creating a buzz ahead of its June 27, 2025, theatrical debut. Directed by Kussh S. Sinha, the film, initially pitched as a psychological thriller, now leans heavily into supernatural horror, as revealed by its chilling trailer. The trailer, launched by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films, promises a suspenseful tale of mystery and dark forces.

A Tale of Suspense and Supernatural Forces

The trailer opens with Sonakshi Sinha as Nikita Roy, an investigator entering a mysterious house in the woods at night, encountering eerie supernatural elements. Paresh Rawal plays Amar Dev, a manipulative godman with psychological control over his followers, whom Nikita vows to expose within a week. Arjun Rampal, sporting glasses and a beard, appears as a paranormal researcher whose cryptic warning, “Truth is the world’s biggest lie,” sets Nikita on a dangerous quest. The trailer, while visually striking, keeps the plot vague, hinting at murders and buried truths without revealing too much.

Mixed Reception and Box Office Clash

Despite its star-studded cast and atmospheric visuals, the trailer has received mixed reactions. India Forums noted it lacks the suspenseful grip expected from the genre, describing it as failing to deliver “edge-of-the-seat excitement.” Free Press Journal echoed this, calling it “cluttered” and unengaging. The film, written by Pavan Kirpalani, known for Phobia and Bhoot Police, faces a box office clash with Kajol’s Maa, a spiritual sequel to Shaitaan, with critics favoring Maa’s trailer for its stronger impact, Fans, however, are intrigued by Sonakshi’s bold role, completed in 2022 but delayed until now.

A Promising Directorial Debut

Marking Kussh S. Sinha’s directorial debut, Nikita Roy explores themes of paranoia and deception, produced by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and Nikita Pai Films. With Amar Mohile’s haunting score and Anshul Chobey’s cinematography, the film aims to unravel the “darker recesses of the human mind,” per Sources. As anticipation builds, audiences await whether Nikita Roy will deliver on its supernatural promise.
