The entertainment industry is once again abuzz with significant developments concerning its prominent figures. Television industry stalwarts Lataa Saberwal and Sanjeev Seth have publicly announced their separation after 16 years of marriage, a revelation that has resonated deeply with their long-time fans. Simultaneously, actor Sudhanshu Pandey has candidly spoken out about facing casting couch experiences early in his career, shedding light on persistent issues within the industry.

Lataa Saberwal and Sanjeev Seth Announce Separation

Television actors Lataa Saberwal and Sanjeev Seth, widely recognized for their roles as on-screen parents in the popular show ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, have confirmed their separation after 16 years of marriage. The announcement came from Lataa Saberwal via a heartfelt post on her social media, specifically Instagram, on June 21, 2025, effectively putting an end to long-standing rumors about growing distance between the couple.

Social Media declaration

In her public statement, Lataa Saberwal expressed gratitude to Sanjeev Seth for their son and extended her best wishes for his future. She wrote, “After a prolonged silence, I declare that I (Lataa Saberwal) have been separated from my husband (Mr. Sanjeev Seth). I give gratitude to him for giving me a lovely son. I wish him all the best for his future life.” Crucially, she also appealed to the public for privacy during this sensitive time, stating, “I request everyone to please respect my and my family’s peace and not to ask any questions or call regarding this. GRATITUDE.” As of the latest reports, Sanjeev Seth has not yet issued a public statement regarding the separation.

Looking back at their journey

The couple’s relationship began on the sets of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, where their professional bond portraying Akshara’s parents blossomed into a real-life romance. They married in 2009 and are parents to a son named Aarav. Before his marriage to Lataa, Sanjeev Seth was married to actor Resham Tipnis from 1993 to 2004, and they share two children, a daughter, Rishika, and a son, Manav.

The couple also showcased their off-screen chemistry by participating in the dance reality show ‘Nach Baliye 6’ in 2013. The public’s emotional investment in their separation is amplified by their origin story as an “on-screen to real-life” couple from a highly popular show. Relationships that transition from beloved on-screen pairings to real-life couples often garner a deeper level of public affection. When such relationships conclude, it can feel like the breaking of a public ideal, leading to heightened public interest and sympathy, as evidenced by the widespread support expressed by fans.

In terms of their professional paths, Lataa Saberwal, known for roles in films like ‘Vivah’ and television shows like ‘Yeh Rishte Hain Pyaar Ke’, has recently transitioned from acting. She now works as an image consultant and creates wellness and fitness content on her YouTube channel. Sanjeev Seth has also shifted his focus towards digital content, notably establishing himself as a food vlogger and content creator.

Sudhanshu Pandey Reveals Casting Couch Experience

Actor Sudhanshu Pandey, widely known for his role in ‘Anupamaa’ and currently a participant in ‘The Traitors’, recently disclosed his personal experience with the casting couch in a candid interview with Gallata India. Pandey revealed that early in his career, he was offered a role by a “very renowned filmmaker who is now no more” in exchange for a “compromise.”

Despite the proposition, Pandey maintained a calm and grounded perspective, stating he holds “nothing against them” and views such scenarios as a “proposal” where “accepting or not is on you.” He emphasized his principle of refusing politely if an offer was “not okay” with him, asserting, “I never worked to feed anyone’s ego.” However, he drew a clear line at forceful behavior, stating, “If anyone misbehaves, I might slap them. If anyone forces me, then I can get very angry. It is normal for every man, and they should stand up for what is right.”

Broader Implications

Pandey’s revelation, as a male actor, contributes to a more inclusive understanding of the casting couch phenomenon. Traditionally, discussions around this issue have often focused primarily on female victims. His testimony helps dismantle the perception that such exploitation is solely gender-specific, revealing it as a power dynamic that can affect individuals across all genders in the entertainment industry. This broader perspective contributes to the ongoing dialogue by demonstrating that abuse of power and sexual exploitation are systemic issues, not confined to specific demographics, and that victims across the spectrum are increasingly finding their voice.

Sudhanshu’s journey

Sudhanshu Pandey began his career as a singer with India’s first boy band, A Band of Boys, before transitioning into acting. He has featured in films like ‘Singh Is Kinng’ and ‘The Myth’ (with Jackie Chan), and became a household name through his portrayal of Vanraj in the hit daily soap ‘Anupamaa.’ He is currently exploring unscripted entertainment as a participant in ‘The Traitors.’

Saga of Shocking Truths

These recent announcements underscore the constant flux within the entertainment world, from personal milestones like marital separations to critical industry dialogues surrounding issues such as the casting couch. They reflect both the evolving ways celebrities communicate with their audience and the ongoing efforts to address systemic challenges within the industry.
