Rumours Trigger Concern Among TMKOC Fans
Fans were left confused and concerned after multiple social media posts hinted that Dilip Joshi, who plays the iconic role of Jethalal, was preparing to leave the show. The buzz gained further traction when actress Munmun Dutta, who plays Babita ji, was also absent from several recent episodes, fueling double speculation.
Asit Modi Calls Exit Claims “Fake and Untrue”
In an interview with Moneycontrol, Asit Kumarr Modi directly addressed the viral reports, stating:
“As you know, social media these days has become so negative that you should try to keep a positive mindset. And Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a completely positive show. It’s a family show that spreads happiness… It’s not right to spread rumours about small things or say anything inappropriate.”
He emphasized that both Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta are still part of the team, and their recent absences were due to personal reasons, not professional fallout.
Munmun Dutta Also Breaks Silence on Her Absence
To further dispel the rumours, Munmun Dutta posted a video on Instagram, showing herself on the TMKOC set, dressed as Babita ji. The video featured glimpses of the makeup room, behind-the-scenes footage, and a view of Iyer’s house, confirming her active participation in upcoming episodes.
TMKOC’s Legacy Stays Strong Amid Speculation
Despite being one of Indian television’s longest-running and most beloved shows—currently in its 17th year—Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has seen its fair share of major cast exits over time. Yet the loyalty of its audience and the consistent involvement of lead actors like Dilip Joshi have remained cornerstones of its enduring popularity.
