“Ab Aayi Na Line Pe”: The Film Industry’s Harsh Reaction

“In our industry, people are often happier for others’ failures than successes,” Farah remarked during the vlog.

She revealed that when Tees Maar Khan underperformed, there was literal celebration among her peers in the film industry. Some even said to her face: “Ab aayi na line pe” (Now she’s been put in her place)—a comment she found both shocking and hurtful.

Farah Khan, who directed hits like Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om, suggested that schadenfreude runs deep in Bollywood. Even collaborators she had once trusted seemed to revel in her film’s downfall.

From Criticism to Cult Status: Gen Z Embraces the Film

Despite its initial poor reception, Farah shared that Tees Maar Khan has now found unexpected love from Gen Z viewers.

“They don’t care for my other films. They think Tees Maar Khan is the one,” she added with amusement.

This generational shift in perception highlights how time—and memes—can redefine a film’s legacy. The movie’s quirky tone, bold visuals, and catchy tracks, including the iconic ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’, have made it a favorite among younger digital-native audiences.

Jackky Bhagnani Also Opens Up About His Own Failure

During the same vlog session, producer Jackky Bhagnani reflected on the commercial failure of his 2024 film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. He revealed how his father, Vashu Bhagnani, inspired him with his journey from selling sarees on the footpath to building a production empire.

Farah praised Jackky for staying grounded through success and setbacks alike, relating it back to her own journey in Bollywood.

About ‘Tees Maar Khan’ – A Heist Comedy That Missed the Mark

Released in 2010, Tees Maar Khan was a heist comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. Despite the hype around its music—especially the chartbuster ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’—the film failed to impress critics or meet audience expectations.

The plot follows a con artist who impersonates a film director to convince a village to unknowingly help him rob a treasure-laden train.
