Saputara, located in the Dang district of Gujarat, is the only official hill station in the state, perched at approximately 900–1,000 m above sea level on the Western Ghats (Sahyadri range). Its name, meaning “Abode of Serpents,” stems from tribal lore and the presence of a stone idol of a snake deity near the Sarpganga River. The settlement is a planned getaway, developed by Gujarat Tourism, with amenities including gardens, a museum, a ropeway, a swimming pool, and a boat club.
