    Dilip Joshi

Veteran actor Dilip Joshi, who has essayed the iconic role of Jethalal Gada for over 17 years in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), has officially dismissed rumours about his departure from the show. The actor’s recent appearance at the sitcom’s success bash firmly debunked all speculation surrounding his alleged exit.

    What Sparked the Exit Buzz?

    • The rumours began circulating in June 2025, when sharp-eyed fans noticed that Dilip Joshi (Jethalal) and Munmun Dutta (Babita Ji) were missing from the ongoing ‘Bhootni’ track.
    • In this particular storyline, other Gokuldham residents like Bapuji, Popatlal, Taarak Mehta, Anjali, and Sodhi were featured at a haunted bungalow.
    • The noticeable absence led many to question whether Joshi and Dutta were planning to quit the show.

The Success Bash That Cleared the Air

On July 22, 2025, Neela Film Productions hosted a grand celebration to commemorate TMKOC’s enduring popularity. Dilip Joshi attended the event with his wife, Jaymala Joshi, firmly putting an end to all the exit speculations.

Co-stars present at the event included:

    • Munmun Dutta (Babita Ji)
    • Amit Bhatt (Champak Lal Gada)
    • Shyam Pathak (Popatlal)

Their presence, especially that of Munmun and Dilip together, reinforced that no exits were currently underway.

    Asit Modi Speaks Out

Asit Kumarr Modi, the show’s creator and producer, had earlier addressed the rumours. In a statement to Moneycontrol, he emphasized the show’s values:

“Social media has become very negative. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a positive, family-oriented show. It spreads happiness. Spreading baseless rumours or thinking negatively is not the right approach.”

TMKOC – A Legacy of Laughter

    • The sitcom recently completed 17 successful years on Indian television.
    • It remains one of the longest-running and most beloved family shows in the country.
    • Despite past cast changes, Dilip Joshi’s portrayal of Jethalal remains the heart and soul of the series.

    Moving Ahead

Dilip Joshi’s presence at the success bash sends a clear message: Jethalal is very much a part of the TMKOC universe. The actor continues to play an essential role in keeping the legacy of the show alive.
