Bollywood’s Shahenshah, Amitabh Bachchan, at 82, continues to rule screens and hearts. But behind the towering charisma, the superstar is now candidly addressing the realities of ageing. In his recent blog entry, Bachchan revealed how simple daily tasks — once second nature — now demand caution, patience, and even medical advice.

Everyday Battles with Age

During his reflections after the August 17 fan meet in Mumbai, Bachchan admitted that ageing has reshaped his daily routine. The icon confessed that even the act of wearing trousers has become challenging, with doctors warning him to sit while doing so to avoid losing balance.

  1. Support bars installed at home to maintain stability
  2. Even bending down to pick up paper feels risky
  3. Doctors’ strict advice: don’t perform basic acts while standing

In his trademark witty-yet-philosophical tone, he wrote:

“Some routines that were there earlier seem to suggest that because they were done some years ago, it shall be a cakewalk to initiate them again. NAH no, baby… even simple acts — like putting on trousers. The doctors advise: ‘Please, Mr Bachchan, sit down and wear them.’”

The Bravado vs. The Body

Bachchan’s honesty strips away the glamour usually attached to celebrities. He admitted that bravado often pushes him to act young, but reality checks him quickly: “The bravado tells you to go ahead, until you realise — goodness, it’s a major problem.”

His reflections serve as a mirror for society, reminding everyone that ageing is universal. In his words: “It shall happen to all of us. I wish it does not, but in time it shall.”

Spice of Reality: A Superstar’s Vulnerability

For a man who once leapt across screens in Zanjeer and Sholay, it’s almost unthinkable to picture him struggling with trousers. But this raw admission is exactly what makes him relatable. In an industry obsessed with youth and glamour, Big B’s acceptance of vulnerability is almost revolutionary.

Is this a message to the industry that endlessly worships youth while sidelining its veterans? Perhaps. Bachchan seems to be subtly reminding Bollywood — and India — that ageing is not weakness, but an undeniable truth that even the greatest must face.

The Legend Marches On

Despite these challenges, Amitabh Bachchan remains unstoppable. He is gearing up for Ribhu Dasgupta’s Section 84, will reprise his role in Kalki 2898 AD sequel, and continues to host Kaun Banega Crorepati, connecting effortlessly with millions across generations.

His confession might sound like a lament, but it’s also an inspiring declaration: life slows down, but it doesn’t have to stop.
