Imphal, Dec 9 (PTI) Four militants were arrested from different parts of Manipur’s Imphal West district, police said on Tuesday.
The arrests were made on Monday, and all of them were accused of extortion.
Two cadres of the UNLF (Pambei) were arrested from Awang Wabagai. They were identified as Ningthoujam Nongpoknganba Meitei (31) and Konthoujam Nelson Singh (23), police said.
UNLF (Pambei) signed a peace pact with the Centre in 2023, but members of the outfit continue to indulge in extortion and other crimes, they said.
Two members of the SOREPA were also arrested. Chungkham Nanao Macha alias Mitlang (24) was arrested from Ningthemkol, and Arambam Thoithoi Singh (41) was arrested from Changangei.
Unaccounted cash of Rs 3.90 lakh was recovered from their possession, police said.
Meanwhile, arms and ammunition were recovered from Ngairangbam Mayai Lambi Loukon in the district on Monday.
Among the items recovered were two single-barreled guns, one stun grenade, one smoke grenade, one 36-HE grenade without a detonator, 54 ammunition and two radio sets. PTI CORR SOM
