Bollywood actor and Rugby Federation of India president Rahul Bose is facing serious fraud allegations in Himachal Pradesh, with netizens accusing him of “theft” by allegedly forging a state domicile certificate to secure his leadership position. The controversy, erupting on December 8, 2025, stems from a police complaint filed by Divya Kumari of Shimla’s Jubbal royal family, claiming Bose exploited their trust to gain voting power in the federation. The case, now before the Himachal Pradesh High Court, has sparked outrage online, with users labeling it as “identity theft” and demanding his resignation.

The Allegations: Forged Domicile for Power Play

According to the complaint, Bose promised the royal family in 2023 to establish and recognize a Himachal Pradesh rugby association, leveraging their prestige for two years. However, he allegedly obtained a fake Himachal domicile certificate despite holding documents from Maharashtra, his primary residence. This, Kumari claims, was a ploy to qualify for the national presidency, sidelining local efforts. “He used our name to further his ambitions, betraying the grassroots rugby community,” she stated in court filings. The High Court has scheduled a hearing for December 18, 2025, with Bose yet to respond publicly.

Netizens’ Fury: From Fraud to “Theft” of Trust

Social media exploded with backlash, with #RahulBoseFraud trending at 200K mentions. Users accused him of “stealing” Himachal’s identity for personal gain: “Faking domicile is theft—Rahul Bose robbed our state of its voice in rugby!” one post read. Rugby enthusiasts from districts like Shimla and Mandi voiced disappointment, claiming their two-year groundwork was ignored. Bose’s dual career—acting in films like Everybody Says I’m Fine! and leading Rugby India since 2022—has fueled debates on conflicts of interest, with calls for an independent probe.

Bose’s Legacy: From Rugby Pioneer to Controversy

Bose, a former Indian rugby player with 17 internationals, has championed the sport through The Foundation NGO and Rugby Premier League initiatives. However, this scandal tarnishes his advocacy, with critics questioning his Maharashtra roots conflicting with Himachal claims. As the court hearing looms, Bose’s silence amplifies the storm.
