Veteran Telugu actor Rajasekhar, who recently returned to the film industry after a health-related break, suffered a serious ankle injury on November 25 while shooting an action sequence for his upcoming film in Medchal.
Sources describe the mishap as a high-impact incident: the actor sustained a bimalleolar dislocation accompanied by a compound fracture in his right ankle, a grave injury that demanded immediate medical attention.
Urgent Surgery, Complex Procedure
Given the severity of the injury, Rajasekhar was rushed to a hospital where doctors opted for an urgent surgical intervention. The operation, lasting nearly three hours, aimed to stabilize the fractures and prevent further complications.
The complex procedure involved:
- Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF), using K-wires to stabilize the lateral malleolus;
- Use of cannulated cancellous screws and a semi-tubular plate to mend the medial malleolus;
- Transfixation of the tibia with a wire passed through the calcaneum and talus to stabilize the entire ankle structure.
According to his team, Rajasekhar endured significant pain during the procedure, but the surgery was successful, and the leg has been immobilized as per the doctor’s advice.
Recovery Period: Work on Hold
Medical professionals have recommended strict rest and immobilization of the injured leg for at least three to four weeks. As a result, Rajasekhar has been directed to remain on complete bed rest while recovery progresses.
Consequently, the actor’s ongoing and upcoming film projects have been put on hold. The shooting schedules for these films, including the much-anticipated action drama Biker, have been postponed. Industry insiders estimate that Rajasekhar may return to sets by January 2026, depending on his recuperation.
A Comeback Cut Short
This setback comes at an unfortunate time. Rajasekhar had only recently resumed active work after a hiatus due to previous health issues. His last film appearance was in the 2023 release Extra Ordinary Man, and he had lined up multiple new projects.
