Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa, currently lodged in Ballari Central Prison amid the Renukaswamy murder case, made an emotional appeal to his fans on December 10, 2025, urging them to channel their support into his latest release, The Devil. Through a heartfelt note shared by his wife, Vijayalakshmi, on social media, Darshan thanked his “DArmy” for their unwavering loyalty, asking them to let the film’s success silence the noise. “Don’t let rumours or negativity shake your heart… Time will answer everything,” he wrote, as the action drama hit theatres on December 11, turning fan screenings into jubilant rallies despite the legal storm.

The Film’s Fiery Launch Amid Controversy

Directed by Prakash Veer and produced by Sri Jaimatha Combines, The Devil stars Darshan as a ruthless gangster in a tale of political intrigue and vengeance, co-starring Rachana Rai, Tulasi, Achyuth Kumar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Shobhraj, and Bigg Boss Kannada fame Gilli Nata. The film’s release, advanced from December 12 to December 11 following massive fan demand, has been a box office bonanza, with early shows in Karnataka drawing thousands. Fans set off crackers, waved flags with Darshan’s image, and chanted “DBoss Zindabad,” transforming theatres into festivals. Early reviews are mixed—praising Darshan’s commanding presence but critiquing the “routine” first half—yet the actor’s star power has ensured packed houses.

The Murder Case Shadow: From Arrest to Appeal

Darshan’s legal woes trace back to June 2024, when he and 16 others, including partner Pavithra Gowda, were arrested for the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old fan Renukaswamy from Chitradurga. Police claim Renukaswamy was tortured and killed for sending abusive messages to Pavithra. Darshan was granted bail in October 2024 but was rearrested after the Supreme Court cancelled it, citing witness tampering. Now in judicial custody, he faces charges under IPC sections for murder and conspiracy. The SIT’s chargesheet, due December 12, looms large, but Darshan’s note—conveyed via Vijayalakshmi—shifts focus to resilience: “You are my strength… Let Devil’s success be our statement.”

Fan Loyalty: Theatres Turn into Temples

Despite the heat, Darshan’s fans have rallied fiercely, buying tickets in bulk and celebrating the release as “our Deepavali.” Clips of ecstatic crowds dancing to the title track have gone viral, with #TheDevilFromDec11 trending at 1 million posts. “DBoss is innocent—Devil will prove his power!” one fan tweeted. The film’s soundtrack by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, including hits like “The Devil,” has amplified the buzz, positioning it for a ₹20 crore opener.

A Devilish Defiance

Darshan’s prison plea isn’t a plea—it’s power. As the devil dances amid darkness, it thunders: Can fans forge fate? His loyal legion affirms yes, scripting a saga where screens summon strength in cinema’s ceaseless storm.
