
New Delhi, Dec 15 (PTI) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday embarked on a three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman, aiming to deepen India’s diplomatic, strategic and economic engagement with regions that share strong civilisational and bilateral ties with New Delhi.
Beginning his tour in Jordan, Modi said the visit marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He will hold detailed talks with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, and also meet Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah. The discussions are expected to focus on regional developments and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
In the second leg of his tour, Modi will visit Ethiopia for the first time as prime minister. He will address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament, where he is expected to speak on India’s democratic journey and the role of the India–Ethiopia partnership in advancing the interests of the Global South. Modi will also hold talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and interact with members of the Indian diaspora.
The prime minister will conclude his tour in Oman, marking 70 years of diplomatic ties between India and the Sultanate. In Muscat, Modi will meet the Sultan of Oman to discuss ways to strengthen the strategic partnership and expand commercial and economic cooperation. He is also scheduled to address the Indian community, acknowledging its contribution to Oman’s development and to bilateral relations.
