Rewa, Dec 15 (PTI) — Ram Janmabhoomi movement leader and former BJP MP Ram Vilas Vedanti passed away on Monday at the age of 67 following a heart attack in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, officials said.
Vedanti, who had been unwell for some time, was admitted to the Superspecialty Hospital affiliated with Shyam Shah Medical College on Sunday morning. Hospital superintendent Akshay Srivastava said Vedanti was suffering from septicemia, had low blood pressure, and kidney failure. He suffered a heart attack on Sunday night and was on ventilator support before passing away on Monday morning.
An air ambulance transfer to AIIMS Bhopal could not be carried out due to poor visibility. Vedanti served as executive president of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust and was earlier elected to the Lok Sabha from Pratapgarh and Machhali Shahar in Uttar Pradesh. At the time of his death, he was narrating ‘Katha Bhathwa’ (Lalgaon) in Rewa.
Born on October 7, 1958, in Gudhwa (Gudh), Vedanti’s last rites will be performed in Ayodhya, according to his disciple Chhote Das Maharaj.
