BJP Follows Charan Singh’s Farmer-Centric Vision: Adityanath on Kisan Diwas

Lucknow, Dec 23 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday paid tribute to former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary, observed as Kisan Diwas, saying the BJP is firmly committed to fulfilling the farmer leader’s ideals.

Hailing Charan Singh as a lifelong champion of villages, farmers, the poor and the deprived, Adityanath said the BJP’s “double-engine government” is working with full dedication to ensure farmers’ welfare in line with the vision of the Bharat Ratna awardee.

BJP’s Uttar Pradesh president Pankaj Chaudhary described Charan Singh as a true voice of farmers, while Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said his leadership for farmer welfare, social justice and rural empowerment remains an enduring legacy for the nation. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also extended greetings to farmers on the occasion.

A towering grassroots leader, Charan Singh served as India’s prime minister from July 28, 1979, to January 14, 1980. Born in 1902 in Noorpur village of Meerut district, he also served as Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister.
