Choreographer Vijay Ganguly Objects to ‘Rejection’ Label for Tamannaah Bhatia in Dhurandhar’s Shararat Song

Vijay Ganguly and Tamannaah Bhatia

Choreographer Vijay Ganguly has come forward to address the media narrative around Tamannaah Bhatia’s non-inclusion in the viral Dhurandhar song “Shararat,” objecting to the use of the word “rejection.” In a statement shared on social media on December 23, 2025, Ganguly clarified that Tamannaah was indeed considered for the item number but the team ultimately chose a different creative direction. “Let’s not use the word ‘rejection’—it’s misleading. Tamannaah was discussed, but we went with what fit the vision best,” he wrote, emphasizing respect for the actress and the collaborative nature of filmmaking.

The Song’s Sizzling Success

“Shararat,” featuring Nora Fatehi alongside Ranveer Singh, has become a chart-topper, crossing 200 million views on YouTube within weeks of Dhurandhar’s December 5 release. The high-energy track, choreographed by Ganguly with music by Shashwat Sachdev, showcases Nora’s dynamic moves and Ranveer’s charisma, contributing to the film’s ₹300 crore+ haul. Earlier reports suggested Tamannaah was approached but couldn’t commit due to scheduling conflicts with Odela 2 and other projects, leading to headlines framing it as a “rejection.”

Ganguly’s Stance: Respect and Realism

Ganguly, known for hits like Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai and Chikni Chameli, stressed the fluidity of casting in dance numbers: “Item songs are about vibe and availability—it’s never personal. Tamannaah is phenomenal; this was just a creative call.” His post garnered support from industry peers, with Remo D’Souza commenting, “Well said, Vijay—it’s all about the right fit.” Tamannaah has not commented publicly, focusing on her busy slate.

A Lesson in Language

Vijay Ganguly’s objection isn’t quibble—it’s courtesy. As “rejection” reframes to realism, it reminds: Can words wound in work? His respectful reset affirms the need for nuance in cinema’s collaborative chorus.
