Thalapathy Vijay Stumbles at Chennai Airport as Fans Mob Him After Malaysia Event

Jana Nayagan

Actor-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay briefly stumbled at Chennai airport late Sunday night (December 28, 2025) as a large crowd surged to greet him on his return from Malaysia. He was quickly helped up by security personnel and escorted into his vehicle, with no visible injuries reported.

What happened

Videos that went viral on social media show Vijay moving towards the airport exit amid tight security as fans gathered close to his convoy. Moments before entering his car, he appeared to lose footing and fell as the crowd pressed in. Security staff immediately lifted him and moved him into the vehicle within seconds.

Television visuals also reportedly showed a vehicle from the convoy being involved in a minor mishap inside the airport premises, though officials have not issued any confirmation or comment.

Returning from ‘Jana Nayagan’ audio launch in Kuala Lumpur

Vijay had returned from Kuala Lumpur after attending the audio launch of Jana Nayagan, widely described as his final film before transitioning fully into politics. The event was held at Bukit Jalil Stadium on December 27, drew an estimated crowd of nearly 1 lakh, and entered the Malaysian Book of Records for the largest audience for an audio launch event.

At the event, Vijay said he was “giving up cinema” to “stand up” for his fans, framing his transition as a decision shaped by their support.

What’s next

Jana Nayagan is scheduled for a January 9, 2026 theatrical release (Pongal window), keeping anticipation high around Vijay’s final on-screen outing even as his political profile rises.
