Jio Platforms Q3 profit jumps 11.3 pc to Rs 7,629 cr on higher ARPU
New Delhi, Jan 16 (PTI) Jio Platforms on Friday reported an 11.3 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit for the December quarter to Rs 7,629 crore, on account of rise in subscriber base, average revenue per user, and scaling up of digital services.
The company had posted a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 6,857 crore after taking into account the share of profit and loss of associates and joint ventures.
“Margin increase of 170 bps Y-o-Y was led by higher ARPU and operating leverage,” the statement said.
The revenue from operations of Jio Platforms — which houses Reliance Industries’ telecom and digital businesses — rose 12.7 per cent to Rs 37,262 crore during the quarter from Rs 33,074 crore in the year-ago period.
The gross revenue stood at Rs 43,683 crore in the December quarter, 12.7 per cent higher than the corresponding period of the previous year.
The company’s subscriber base grew about 7 per cent to 51.53 crore. On an average, a subscriber on Jio Platforms consumed 40.7 GB per month — the highest on any mobile network in the country. This led to a total data traffic growth of 34 per cent year-on-year during the December quarter.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash M Ambani said Jio has been the catalyst for India’s digital revolution by bringing the world’s best technology platforms in the hands of Indian users.
“Jio’s over 500 million subscriber base, deep customer insights and pan-India distribution network will empower Reliance Intelligence to achieve its aim to make India not just AI-enabled but AI-empowered — where every citizen and enterprise can harness AI tools to create, innovate and grow. This will drive sustained value creation for all stakeholders in the coming years,” Ambani said.
Jio 5G subscribers crossed 25 crore, and fixed broadband base crossed 2.5 crore. Jio Airfiber has become the first FWA (fixed wireless access) service globally to surpass the 1 crore subscribers-mark, the company said.
ARPU — a key metric for telcos — increased 5.1 per cent to Rs 213.7 during the reported quarter from Rs 203.3 a year ago.
“ARPU increased to Rs 213.7 with higher customer engagement, partly offset by promotional offers for unlimited 5G and fixed broadband services,” the statement said.
Jio Head of Strategy Anshuman Thakur said during the earnings call that ARPU was driven organically by increase in subscriber base and there was no impact of the last tariff hike by the company.
Jio, along with its rivals, last increased mobile services rates across the board in July 2024.
Reliance Jio, the telecom services arm of Jio Platform, posted a 16.5 per cent year-on-year growth in EBIDTA — an indicator of operational profit, led by higher revenues to Rs 18,408 crore during the reporting period from Rs 15,798 in December 2024 quarter.
The revenue from operations of Reliance Jio Infocomm increased 11.8 per cent to Rs 32,751 crore from Rs 29,307 crore on a year-on-year basis, driven by strong subscriber growth and higher ARPU, the company said.
The company now claims to have about 65 per cent share of 5G subscribers in the country.
“Total 5G subscriber base reached 253 million as of December 2025. 5G now accounts for around 53 per cent of total wireless traffic driven by consistent increase in customer engagement,” the statement said. PTI PRS TRB
