The latest episode of Naagin 7 has sparked widespread backlash online after a much-hyped dragon face-off sequence failed to meet audience expectations, with viewers accusing the makers of overusing AI effects and diluting the show’s visual impact.
The supernatural fantasy series, produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and airing on Colors TV since December 27, has long been one of Indian television’s flagship shows. The eighth episode featuring lead Priyanka Chahar Choudhary as the newly empowered Naagin Anantkul ki Naagin battling a fire-breathing dragon was promoted as a major turning point, but instead ended up drawing heavy criticism.
Dragon Battle: Spectacle or Letdown?
The episode showcased a dramatic confrontation between the snake-shapeshifting protagonist and a CGI dragon. In the sequence, the beast breathes fire, prompting Naagin to retaliate with her powers and hurl a trident, before the fight shifts toward a river where she ultimately defeats the creature.
However, social media was soon flooded with audience reactions lamenting the execution. Many viewers pointed out that the visuals appeared heavily AI-generated and lacked realism, leaving the drama feeling flat rather than intense or cinematic. “Extensive AI, less screen time for the real Naagin…cartoon villain, zero arc for main lead,” remarked one viewer in an online thread.
Social Media Erupts: ‘Stop Misusing AI’
Across platforms like Twitter and Reddit, Naagin 7 fans expressed disappointment, with hashtags urging a reduction in AI usage. One poster appealed directly to Ekta Kapoor, saying, “Please do not use AI for anything related to Naagin. It just does not look good at all,” while others went further: “Dear @EktaaRKapoor mam… stop misusing AI, keep it natural.”
Several users on Reddit reacted strongly, criticizing not just the visuals but also the pacing and storytelling, noting that the dragon fight teased for weeks seemed rushed and underdeveloped, lasting only a few minutes. One comment described the episode as “like watching AI cartoons,” reflecting frustration over the perceived lack of effort in special effects.
Some fans, however, urged patience, suggesting that the complete storyline would unfold in the upcoming episodes and that the dragon track served merely as a brief prelude to deeper drama.
About ‘Naagin 7’ and Its Fanbase
Naagin remains one of Indian television’s most popular supernatural franchises, focusing on icchadhari serpents who can transform into humans and frequently grapple with themes of revenge, destiny and mystical powers. The current season features Priyanka Chahar Choudhary alongside Namik Paul, with Eisha Singh, Alice Kaushik and Karan Kundrra in supporting roles.
Despite the backlash, Naagin 7 continues to dominate ratings, securing high viewership and initiating discussions online both positive and critical over its bold storytelling choices and technical experimentation with AI.
