Veteran actor Satish Shah, immortalised as Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, has been awarded the Padma Shri posthumously in the 2026 honours list announced on January 25, 2026.

HatsOff Productions’ Tribute: “It Came Late”

Reacting to the honour, HatsOff Productions shared an emotional note recalling how this recognition had been spoken about years ago within the Sarabhai circle. The post summed up the bittersweet feeling in one line: “It came late. Perhaps too late for him to celebrate it himself.”

The team added that while Shah isn’t here to receive the honour, his work will remain “family” for generations—through the characters he created and the laughter he left behind.

Why Fans Say “Well-Deserved”

Satish Shah’s range went far beyond one iconic sitcom—spanning theatre, television and a long filmography that includes Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Kabhie Haan Kabhie Naa and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke. Yet for many viewers, Indravadan Sarabhai remains his most quoted, most rewatched legacy—witty, cynical, oddly tender, and unforgettable.

A Legacy That Outlives the Moment

Shah passed away on October 25, 2025, but the Padma Shri now seals what audiences have believed for years: his contribution to Indian comedy and character acting wasn’t just popular—it was foundational.
