Veteran actor Suniel Shetty has dismissed rumours suggesting that his son Ahan Shetty’s entourage expenses were responsible for the production pause on Sajid Nadiadwala’s action film Sanki. Speaking to Lehren Retro, Suniel called the chatter “rumours” and said it was “circulated as per the producer’s convenience.”

“Show Me the Bill”: Suniel’s Direct Challenge

In the interview, Suniel pushed back strongly, stating that if any producer claims excessive billing, they should produce proof. He said if someone can “show a bill,” he would examine it—adding that “the father steps in” when misinformation harms his son.

Suniel on Set Expenses: “Food, Water, and Bills Under My Name”

Suniel also used his own on-set discipline as an example, saying he often brings his own food and water, and has instructed his team that if they order anything externally, the bill should be under his name, not charged to the producer. He argued that if his staff can’t do otherwise, Ahan’s staff wouldn’t either.

What the Sanki Rumours Were About

The entourage-cost narrative traces back to mid-2024 trade reporting, which claimed that market conditions—especially around satellite and digital economics—made the project harder to justify, with the report also alleging concerns about costs billed to production.

Producer-Side Context: Makers Had Earlier Asked Media to Avoid Rumours

Notably, in July 2024 reporting, the makers were quoted as saying they were starting Sanki on August 18 and requested media outlets to verify before publishing rumours—highlighting that the claims were contested even then.

Why the Issue Has Resurfaced Now

The clarification comes as Ahan returns to wider conversation with Border 2, which NDTV notes has brought him back into the spotlight, with Ahan playing Lt Cdr Mahendra Singh Rawat in the Anurag Singh directorial.
