Punjabi indie singer Talwiinder, known for his signature skull face paint/skeleton-mask aesthetic and guarded privacy, has spoken about the viral clips that showed his face uncovered—calling the moment deeply unsettling and emotionally destabilising.
The Interview: What He Said and Where
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Talwiinder described waking up to the footage and seeing it spread rapidly online. “I felt like my face was snatched away from me. My world turned upside down,” he said, adding he wasn’t in the right state of mind when he first saw it.
Where the Video Is Believed to Be From
The clips are widely reported as believed to be from Nupur Sanon and Stebin Ben’s wedding celebrations in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
“Killed Someone’s Dream”: His Anger at the Leak Economy
Talwiinder also criticised the way the unmasked footage was amplified for engagement. In the same interview, he questioned whether the clip was shared for small sums—citing figures like ₹5,000 to ₹50,000—and said, “You literally just killed someone’s dream.”
Identity, Privacy and the “Music First” Philosophy
He reiterated that the point of his look is to keep attention on the music, not the face—saying visuals can distract audiences from the message and emotional experience he wants his work to carry.
On Disha Patani Rumours: “Let the Rumours Be Rumours”
The viral moment also revived chatter linking Talwiinder to actor Disha Patani. He said they met only recently and are still “figuring out” things, adding he’d prefer to let speculation remain speculation.
