Legendary vocalist Usha Uthup has welcomed the reimagined version of her iconic track “Rambha Ho”, featured in Dhurandhar, calling the new rendition “fabulous” and celebrating its renewed popularity among audiences decades after its original release.
Speaking to Radio Nasha, Uthup recalled hearing the revamped version after someone sent her a link. “Somebody sent me the link… ‘Wow! What is this! It’s fabulous,’” she said, adding she was happy to see the song connect with a new generation.
No hard feelings over no prior consultation
Despite not being approached by the makers before the rehash was created, Usha Uthup said she has no complaints. “When another artist lends their voice to it, I’m not one of those people who feel bad about it. I’m very happy,” she said—underscoring her openness to reinterpretations.
The revamped track in Dhurandhar has been sung by Madhubanti Bagchi and reimagined/composed by Shashwat Sachdev, while the original credits trace back to Bappi Lahiri and lyricist Indeewar/Indiwar.
Uthup also praised Bagchi’s rendition and mentioned they even made a reel together at Trincas, calling it a fun cross-generational moment.
Enduring legacy of a classic
Originally recorded for Anand Sagar’s Armaan, “Rambha Ho” became synonymous with Usha Uthup’s vibrant stage presence and has remained a staple of her live performances for decades.
“I’ve always believed the song is bigger than the singer,” she said, adding that seeing it return “with such a bang” is amazing.
Dhurandhar and the song’s renewed spotlight
Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar has helped push the track back into the mainstream—illustrating how classic songs are increasingly revived and reinterpreted for contemporary tastes, often triggering fresh traction on streaming and social platforms.
