Television actor Akanksha Chamola has responded after clips of her dancing with co-stars at a promotional event triggered a fresh wave of online chatter and moral policing. The videos—shot around promotions for her upcoming show Dil Dhokha Aur Desire—show Chamola dancing alongside Kunwar Amar and Ali Hasan, moments that quickly turned into debate on social media.
What sparked the backlash
According to reports, the trolling picked up soon after her husband, actor Gaurav Khanna, won Bigg Boss 19, with some users scrutinising Chamola’s public appearances and professional choices more aggressively than before. Similar commentary had earlier followed another dance reel featuring influencer Awez Darbar, fuelling speculation about her personal life—rumours she has previously dismissed.
Her response: amplify the double-standard call-out
Rather than issuing a long written statement, Chamola reshared a video by influencer “Jayati Unscripted,” who questioned why people were so fixated on Chamola’s work and why her dance performances were being treated as a “problem.” The influencer also flagged a perceived double standard—arguing that male actors perform intimate scenes on-screen without their character or commitment being questioned, while women often face disproportionate judgement for professional performances.
Chamola reposted the clip with the caption: “This is feminine energy at its peak.”
She also shared another clip from promotions where she spoke about trust in relationships, stating that faithfulness shouldn’t be treated as an achievement: “Being married and not cheating is the basic, guys,” she said, underlining that loyalty is the bare minimum expectation.
What’s next for Akanksha
Chamola is gearing up for Dil Dhokha Aur Desire, which India Today reported is set to stream on ShemarooMe from February 12, 2026.
She also maintains a strong digital following (around 9 lakh+ on Instagram), where her dance and lifestyle content frequently circulates through entertainment pages.
