Amid a fresh wave of online speculation around censor clearance and runtime for the much-awaited Dhurandhar 2, industry sources have clarified that the sequel has not yet been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for theatrical certification.
The confusion erupted after a certificate dated February 9, 2026 began circulating online, seemingly indicating a UA 16+ rating and a 208-minute runtime. Several social media posts and a few reports incorrectly linked this entry to Dhurandhar 2 (officially titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge). However, the listing on the CBFC portal is understood to be connected to the television broadcast certification of the first film, not the sequel.
What the Viral Certificate Actually Refers To
Sources familiar with the development said the certificate is tied to the original Dhurandhar, which released in December 2025 and was later re-certified after edits for broadcast. The theatrical cut reportedly ran around 214 minutes, but subsequent changes—following objections raised over certain dialogues—resulted in a revised certified runtime of 208 minutes and 56 seconds.
For television, additional trimming and muted expletives are said to have enabled the film’s rating to move from ‘A’ to ‘UA 16+’, which is typically required for broader TV audiences.
Where Dhurandhar 2 Stands
Industry insiders stressed that Dhurandhar 2 is still not on the CBFC submission track, as shooting was reportedly underway as recently as last week—making any “final certificate” claims premature. Official certification details are expected only after the producers submit the completed cut to the board.
TV Premiere Timeline for the First Film
Given the usual gap between theatrical release and TV broadcast, the first Dhurandhar is expected to make its television debut in the first week of March 2026 (as per reports). Satellite rights are also reported to have been picked up by Star Gold.
Sequel Release Plan
Dhurandhar 2—starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun—is currently slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026.
For now, producers and sources have urged audiences to treat viral CBFC “leaks” with caution and wait for confirmation once Dhurandhar: The Revenge is formally submitted and certified.
