The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced that the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programs (CUET UG) 2025 will begin on May 13, 2025. Major Reforms in CUET UG 2025
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has implemented significant changes to the CUET UG 2025 to enhance efficiency and accessibility:
- Subject Reduction: The number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37, comprising 13 languages and 23 domain-specific subjects.
- Flexible Subject Choices: Candidates can now select subjects irrespective of their Class 12 stream, allowing for a more interdisciplinary approach.
- Standardized Exam Duration: Each subject test will have a uniform duration of 60 minutes, ensuring consistency across the board.
- Compulsory Questions: All questions in the exam will be mandatory, eliminating the option to skip or choose among different questions.
Language and Domain Subjects
The CUET UG 2025 will be offered in 13 languages: Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
The domain-specific subjects have been streamlined to 23, with certain subjects like Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, and Engineering Graphics removed from the list.
Application Process and Fee Structure
The application process for CUET UG 2025 commenced earlier this year, with the deadline for submission set for March 22, 2025.
Application Fees:
- General Category: INR 1,000 for up to three subjects; INR 400 for each additional subject.
- OBC-NCL and EWS: INR 900 for up to three subjects; INR 375 for each additional subject.
- SC, ST, PwBD, and Third Gender: INR 800 for up to three subjects; INR 350 for each additional subject.
- Applicants Outside India: INR 4,500 for up to three subjects; INR 1,800 for each additional subject.
Candidates were provided with an application correction window from March 24 to March 26, 2025, to rectify any errors in their submitted forms.
Participating Universities
A total of 287 universities will accept CUET UG 2025 scores, including prominent institutions like Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI).

To assist applicants, the NTA has launched a new platform providing essential details, including a list of participating universities and helpline numbers for payment-related issues.
