Veteran Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has publicly reacted to fellow actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s fond recollection of Yadav’s early generosity, a remark that cast light on their shared struggle days in the industry even as Yadav navigates a high-profile legal and financial crisis.
Yadav, recently granted interim bail by the Delhi High Court in a longstanding cheque-bounce case, addressed Siddiqui’s comments in a conversation with UP Tak. Siddiqui had described Yadav’s home in Mumbai as being “like a langar” (a community kitchen) for struggling actors during their formative years, where many young artists found food and camaraderie.
Humble Acknowledgement, Shared Memories
In his response, Yadav emphasised the mutual nature of their early support system, noting that Siddiqui’s words reflect the veteran’s “badapan” (generosity), something he deeply respects. Clarifying that it was Siddiqui’s own home and food that supported struggling actors, Yadav described how a group of 10–15 actors from across states would share meals and laughter together, irrespective of who had work at the time. He said such shared experiences fuelled their collective journey in Indian cinema.
“I got work because of him,” Yadav said, acknowledging Siddiqui’s role in his professional breakthrough and reiterating the spirit of fellowship that defined their early days. He stressed that the industry’s collaborative ethos was more important than individual credit.
Legal Troubles and Industry Support
Rajpal Yadav’s comments came amid his ongoing cheque-bounce case linked to a ₹5-crore loan taken to finance his directorial debut Ata Pata Laapata (released in 2012)—a liability that, as reported, later rose to around ₹9 crore with dues and penalties. The Delhi High Court had directed him to surrender after settlement defaults; he surrendered on Feb 5, 2026, and was later granted interim relief till March 18, 2026 after ₹1.5 crore was deposited, following which he was released from Tihar.
In recent days, Yadav has also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from peers in the film fraternity. Prominent figures such as Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and others have stepped forward with offers of work and financial assistance, underscoring solidarity within the industry. Yadav acknowledged this backing, stating that the goodwill he’s received extends far beyond mere sympathy.
Looking Ahead
While Yadav continues to focus on resolving his legal challenges, he has hinted at an upcoming press conference to address his situation more comprehensively. The actor maintains that time will bring clarity to the controversies, and he remains committed to complying with legal processes and moving forward in his career.
As the case unfolds, the industry and fans alike are closely watching one of Bollywood’s most respected character actors navigate through adversity with memories of shared struggle and fraternity adding depth to a challenging chapter in his life.
