Amit Shah to visit Odisha from March 5; to attend CISF event, launch projects

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27 (PTI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Odisha for two days from March 5, during which he will attend multiple government programmes, including a CISF event, officials said on Friday.

Shah will arrive in Bhubaneswar on the evening of March 5 and is slated to attend the CISF foundation day programme at Mundali in Cuttack district on March 6, they said.

During the visit, the home minister will also lay the foundation stone for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) Bhubaneswar campus at Jatni in Khurda district, according to officials. He is also scheduled to inaugurate the NFSU Transit Campus in Bhubaneswar in virtual mode.

Shah will inaugurate an exhibition on the new criminal laws in the state capital on March 6 and launch various projects linked to the cooperation department and other departments, the officials said.

Ahead of the visit, Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a preparatory meeting on Thursday evening and directed authorities to ensure repair and proper illumination of the road stretch from Godisahi to Mundali. She also stressed cleanliness drives and beautification measures.

An official statement said security arrangements, traffic and route plans, and site-specific preparations were reviewed during the meeting. Garg asked departments to coordinate closely and complete preparations within stipulated timelines.

Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma briefed the meeting on the status of arrangements. Director General of Police Y B Khurania and other officials were present. PTI
