The makers of Ranabaali have dropped the first glimpse of the Vijay Deverakonda–Rashmika Mandanna starrer. Positioned as a period action drama set during British rule, the teaser establishes a grim colonial backdrop before cutting to Vijay’s fierce, transformed avatar as the titular Ranabaali.

First Look Teaser Sets the Tone

Unveiled on Republic Day, the glimpse introduces a story world shaped by the “harsh rule of the British in India” and frames the film around exploitation and suffering in drought-hit regions under colonial administration. One standout shot shows Vijay riding a horse while dragging a British officer along railway tracks—an arresting visual meant to signal rebellion, rage and a larger-than-life hero arc.

Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, while international actor Arnold Vosloo (known globally for The Mummy) essays the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector. The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers, with T-Series presenting the project.

Interestingly, the makers have described Ranabaali as a “cinematic reconstruction” rather than a textbook retelling. The narrative is set in the 19th century and draws inspiration from real events between 1854 and 1878, built from multiple accounts, oral histories and records that were allegedly suppressed or sidelined in mainstream history.

The makers have stressed it isn’t a biopic or a textbook retelling. Instead, it reconstructs an era by stitching together accounts, oral histories and suppressed records—reframing figures once branded “rebels” or “savages.”

Surprise Romantic Song Wins Hearts

Just as audiences were soaking in the film’s gritty mood, the team released a contrasting update: the first romantic track, “Endhayya Saami.” The song shows Ranabaali and Jayamma as newlyweds—Rashmika’s character enters her husband’s home after the wedding, and the romance unfolds in small, warm moments as she gradually falls for him.

Musically, the track brings a strong pedigree. “Endhayya Saami” is composed by Ajay-Atul, sung by Shweta Mohan and Ajay Gogavale, with lyrics penned by Saraswatiputra Ramajogayya Sastry. Online, fans flooded timelines with edits and “chemistry is back” posts. Many praised the song’s soft newlywed vibe, calling it a perfect counterpoint to the teaser’s anger—proof Ranabaali is blending romance with revolt.

Multi-language rollout

The makers have also signalled a multi-language release strategy for the song, sharing titled versions across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Why Fans Are Extra Invested

Ranabaali marks Vijay and Rashmika’s third on-screen collaboration after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, which is why every new frame is being treated like an event by their fanbase. The project also reunites Vijay with director Rahul Sankrityan after Taxiwaala, adding another layer of anticipation around the film’s scale and storytelling.

Release Date and What’s Next

Ranabaali is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on September 11, 2026, in cinemas. With a hard-hitting first look and a romantic song that’s already trend-ready, the film is positioning itself as a spectacle that balances rebellion with emotion.
