Actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav has pushed back strongly after filmmaker Priyadarshan’s recent remarks linked his ongoing financial/legal troubles to “poor education.” The response comes amid renewed public attention on Yadav following developments in a ₹9 crore cheque-bounce/debt case.

What Priyadarshan Said

In an earlier interview, Priyadarshan spoke about his long association with Rajpal and said he had asked the producers of his next film to increase the actor’s remuneration in light of the situation. In the same conversation, the director described Rajpal as “a good soul,” but also claimed the actor had made a “blunder” due to “poor education.”

Rajpal’s Firm Reply

Reacting to the comment in an interview with SCREEN, Rajpal dismissed the education jibe as misplaced and uninformed. He said the director “doesn’t know” him beyond their professional interactions and argued that being in a tough spot has nothing to do with education.

Rajpal also underlined that he continues to respect Priyadarshan as a filmmaker, but drew a clear line against personal judgements made without knowing the full facts of the matter.

Case Context

Rajpal Yadav has been dealing with court proceedings linked to a cheque-bounce matter. Reports note that the Delhi High Court granted interim relief after a ₹1.5 crore deposit, with the interim suspension remaining in force until March 18, 2026.

What’s Next

Despite the controversy, Rajpal has said he remains professionally engaged and has projects lined up, including work connected to Priyadarshan.
