New Delhi, March 10: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday criticised the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal in the Lok Sabha, alleging that it had failed to implement several key agriculture schemes of the Centre and was doing injustice to farmers in the state.
Speaking during Question Hour, Chouhan said the West Bengal government was not implementing the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana and other welfare schemes, and accused it of not being concerned about farmers’ interests. He said the state government was “committing a sin” by denying farmers the benefits of these programmes.
The minister also attacked the TMC over what he described as “mean politics” and took a swipe at the ruling dispensation, saying a change in government would come after the Assembly elections in the state.
Chouhan further said India’s agriculture sector had seen significant progress and noted that separate IDs were being prepared for farmers.
