New Delhi, Mar 11 (PTI) The lawyers canteen at the Delhi High Court on Wednesday said it would halt its “main course” menu due to unavailability of cooking gas in its kitchen. However, services resumed shortly after securing LPG supply.

In a notice to the high court administration and advocates, the canteen management said amid uncertainty over restoration of LPG supply, it would offer food items such as sandwiches, salads, fruit chats and other similar refreshments.

Speaking to PTI, the canteen’s owner, however, said he was able to serve lunch during the day after a gas cylinder was supplied to the establishment.

“It is to respectfully inform you that due to the unavailability of the LPG gas cylinder at present, we regret that we are unable to prepare and serve the main course items in the Lawyers Canteen,” a notice issued earlier in the day said.

“At the moment, we do not have any information regarding when the LPG supply will be restored. We will resume the preparation of the main course as soon as the gas supply becomes available,” it added.

India meets as much as 62 per cent of its LPG requirement through imports.

The US-Israel offensive on Iran and Tehran’s retaliation by effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz has hindered fuel supply via the key sea route through which India gets 85-90 per cent of its LPG imports from West Asian nations, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar. PTI ADS ARB ARB
