Himachal: MeT issues yellow warning for thunderstorm with hail in 5 districts

Shimla, March 11 (PTI) The Shimla Meteorological Station issued a yellow warning on Wednesday for thunderstorms accompanied by hail, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h at isolated locations in Chamba, Kangra, and Kullu districts on March 12, 14, and 15.

Additionally, Mandi and Shimla districts are expected to experience similar conditions on March 12 and 15. Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures in the region have remained above normal.

Overall, the weather across the state has been dry, with a slight drop in temperatures. Una recorded the highest temperature at 33.2 degrees Celsius, while Tabo was the coldest, with a low of 1.2 degrees Celsius.

Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur district recorded minimum temperatures at 4.2 degrees and 5.8 degrees, 8.2 degrees and 6.2 degrees above normal, while Kangra was warmer with a low of 17.5 degrees, nine degrees above normal.

The Meteorological Station has forecasted light rain or snow in isolated areas over the high hills of the state on March 13, as well as light rain or snow in isolated areas over the mid and high hills on March 16 and 17.

Furthermore, light to moderate rain or snow is expected at a few locations over the high hills and mid hills, and in isolated areas over the low hills and plains of the state on March 11, 12, and 14, it added.

The MeT station further said that minimum temperatures for most stations were three to nine degrees above normal, while maximum temperatures for most stations were two to eleven degrees above normal. PTI BPL MPL MPL
