In a bold and surprising move, shooting for Ramayana: Part 2 has officially begun in Mumbai, with Ranbir Kapoor resuming his iconic portrayal of Lord Ram. The Nitesh Tiwari-directed mythological epic is accelerating production on its sequel even before the first part hits theaters, capitalizing on a schedule shift from Ranbir’s other commitments.

Shooting Commences Amid Schedule Pivot

Reports confirm that Ranbir Kapoor kicked off his portions for Ramayana: Part 2 in early March 2026, being spotted on set with producer Namit Malhotra. The push comes after a delay in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War due to the director’s health concerns, freeing up Ranbir’s March–May window. This allows the team to fast-track key sequences for the sequel, originally slated for a later start. Filming is underway at Mumbai facilities, with heavy VFX prep already in place for the grand-scale narrative.

Sunny Deol Set to Join as Lord Hanuman

Veteran action star Sunny Deol, essaying the mighty Lord Hanuman, is expected to join the shoot around March 20, 2026. This upcoming schedule will feature several pivotal combination scenes between Lord Ram and Hanuman—crucial moments of devotion, strength, and alliance that fans have eagerly awaited. Sources describe these as “narrative-defining” sequences that demand intense coordination and emotional depth.

The Epic Continues

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part Ramayana boasts a stellar ensemble: Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, and supporting talents including Ravi Dubey and others. Part 1 remains locked for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release, while Part 2 targets Diwali 2027. The project is hailed as one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious, blending rooted storytelling with cutting-edge visuals.

Fan Frenzy and Expectations

The early start has ignited massive excitement online, with hashtags like #RamayanaPart2 and #RanbirAsRam trending. Fans praise the makers’ confidence in pushing ahead, seeing it as a sign of the film’s epic scope and potential to redefine mythological cinema.
