New Delhi, Mar 16 (PTI) The Delhi government is planning to set up a board to promote the city as a hub of tourism and film shooting, officials said on Monday.
The government is likely to set up the Tourism Board through a Bill to be tabled in the Delhi Assembly’s budget session starting from March 23, they said.
Under the proposed board, various departments and agencies of the Delhi government will work for the promotion of the city as a hub of tourism and film shooting.
The government has taken several initiatives to promote tourism and establish Delhi as a global film shooting hub by reducing fees and working towards a single window system for giving clearances to producers required from various agencies, officials said.
Last year, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had said that a new film policy is being framed by her government to make Delhi a film shooting destination.
Setting up a single window system for issuing multiple clearances in a time-bound manner is part of the policy, she had said.
A separate fund of Rs 3 crore was also issued by the government for initiatives to develop Delhi as a film shooting hub.
Delhi is also going to host its first international film festival from March 25, which is being organised as the government’s steps towards establishing the city as a friendly film shoot location. PTI VIT OZ OZ
