Noida: 821 stolen phones worth over Rs 6 crore recovered; six arrested

New Delhi, Mar 28 (PTI) As many as 320 stolen and lost mobile phones worth around Rs 50 lakh have been recovered in Delhi’s Shahdara district under the ongoing “Operation Vishwas” drive, officials said on Saturday.

The initiative, launched on January 1, 2026, focuses on tracing stolen, snatched, robbed and lost mobile phones using technical surveillance and coordinated field operations.

Of the recovered phones, 317 were traced within Delhi, while two were recovered from Uttar Pradesh and one from Haryana.

Police said 259 of the devices had been reported lost, while others were linked to theft, snatching and robbery cases.

Officials said the recoveries were made through IMEI tracking, call detail record (CDR) analysis, use of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, and targeted raids across multiple locations.

A technical surveillance team, along with 13 field units, worked to identify active devices and track them across Delhi and other states. Of the total recoveries, 75 phones were traced using the CEIR portal.

The recovered phones were handed over to their rightful owners at a ceremony held at the Shahdara DCP office complex on Saturday. PTI MSJ HIG HIG
