Man drowns after slipping into drain in Delhi’s Dilshad Garden
New Delhi, Mar 30 (PTI) A man drowned after he accidentally slipping into a drain while cleaning it in east Delhi’s Dilshad Garden area on Monday, a Delhi Fire Services official said.
According to the DFS, information regarding the incident was received around 2 pm, following which rescue teams were rushed to the spot.
On arrival, it was found that the man had fallen into a drain and drowned, the official said, adding that a rescue operation was launched with the assistance of the DFS, Boat Club and other local responders.
After sustained efforts, the man was pulled out of the drain and immediately rushed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, where he was declared brought dead, the official said.
Police said that they received a PCR call at Seemapuri police station regarding the incident.
“Two daily wage workers were deployed to clean the nala at Q Pocket in Dilshad Garden area. One of them identified as Capital (32), to clean the silt in the nala, while removing the slit, his colleague Rahul (33), got slipped and drowned,” the officer said.
The body was taken out of the nala and sent to GTB Hospital mortuary for postmortem. Rahul was a resident of Sundar Nagari.
The police said that an FIR under BNS Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) is registered and further investigation into the matter is underway. PTI BM MSJ NB
