Queen 2 on Track? Kangana Ranaut Set to Reprise Rani, Shoot Likely to Begin by April-End: Report

Kangana Ranaut Set to Returns as Rani in "Queen 2"

After years of speculation and fan interest, Queen 2 appears to be moving ahead. According to recent reports, Kangana Ranaut is set to reprise her much-loved role as Rani, with filming likely to begin by the end of April 2026. The sequel is said to be entering production nearly 12 years after the original film won acclaim for its coming-of-age story and Kangana’s performance.

A New Journey for Rani

Unlike the first film, which followed Rani’s solo trip through Europe, the sequel is expected to take the character across several Indian cities. Reports suggest the new chapter will retain the themes of self-discovery and self-reliance, while presenting Rani in a more urban and evolved setting.

Shoot Plan and Team Details

Reports indicate that the film will begin with a Mumbai schedule, where indoor sets recreating a North Indian city and Rani’s home environment are expected to be built. After that, the unit is likely to move to multiple metro cities for outdoor portions. The film is reportedly being planned on a tight schedule of around three months. The same reports also say Vikas Bahl is expected to return to direct, with fresh faces and theatre actors being considered for supporting roles.

Why the Buzz Is Strong

The 2014 film Queen remains one of Kangana Ranaut’s most celebrated works, and any move toward a sequel naturally carries strong recall value. That said, there has been no formal rollout yet from the makers in the reports currently available, so the project is best framed as one that is gathering momentum rather than officially locked in on all fronts.
