Patriot Poster

The much-awaited Malayalam espionage thriller Patriot, starring Mohanlal and Mammootty, has been postponed by a week. The film, which was originally scheduled to hit theatres on April 23, 2026, will now release worldwide on May 1, 2026. The updated date was officially announced on April 1 through social media posts shared by the film’s team and lead star Mammootty.

Why the Film Was Delayed

The makers’ official statement did not mention technical reasons such as VFX or sound work. It said the release was being pushed due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Separately, one report said the revised rollout may be connected to ongoing tensions in West Asia affecting the film’s release across GCC markets.

A Big-Screen Reunion Fans Have Been Waiting For

Patriot brings Mohanlal and Mammootty together in a major project after a long gap, making it one of the most anticipated Malayalam films of the year. The film is written and directed by Mahesh Narayanan and has been described as an espionage thriller with a large ensemble cast. Reports have also named actors such as Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Darshana Rajendran, and Revathi among the cast.

Backed by a Strong Team

The film is produced by Anto Joseph and K.G. Anil Kumar, and it has been positioned as one of the biggest Malayalam releases of 2026. With its new May 1 date now locked, the film is expected to remain one of the most closely watched releases in the coming weeks.
