Amaravati now unstoppable, says CM Naidu after passage of Bill in Parliament

Amaravati, Apr 2 (PTI) Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said Amaravati is unstoppable with Parliament passing a Bill seeking to recognise Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which will scuttle any future bid to alter the decision of making Amaravati the capital of the southern state, was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Thursday and Lok Sabha on April 1.

“Amaravati’s status as the capital is now firmly secured, beyond doubt, beyond debate, and beyond change. Amaravati is unstoppable, the heart of Andhra Pradesh and a future pride of the nation,” Naidu said in a post on ‘X’.

The CM thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support to Amaravati, observing that it was an unwavering and steadfast commitment toward the aspirations of the southern state. He also thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Bill will be now sent for Presidential assent. PTI STH GDK KH
