AAP Gujarat chief Isudan Gadhvi, others booked over protest at police station

Devbhumi Dwarka (Gujarat), Apr 1 (PTI) Gujarat Aam Aadmi Party chief Isudan Gadhvi and 30 others were booked on Wednesday for alleged rioting at Khambhalia police station in the district as they protested the arrest of a party worker in a chain-snatching case.

Gadhvi, along with AAP workers, reached the police station in the afternoon, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Vismay Manseta.

Dipak Singh, arrested on Tuesday for alleged chain-snatching, was an AAP worker, said the official.

“They started abusing the police station staff and threatened them with suspension. They also tried to create a ruckus,” he said.

An FIR was registered against Gadhvi and 30 others for obstructing a public servant in the performance of duty, rioting, and unlawful assembly, said the official.

Gopal Italia, AAP MLA from Visavadar, had urged people on social media to reach Khambhalia police station to support Gadhvi.

He cited the earlier arrest of MLA Chaitar Vasava and claimed that more and more AAP leaders and workers were being arrested in the BJP-ruled Gujarat.

So far, 162 cases have been registered against AAP members under pressure from the ruling party, said AAP state in-charge Gopal Rai. PTI COR KVM PD KRK
