The announcement was made through the official social media handles along with a brand-new poster that read:

“The laughter riot just got a new date. Son of Sardaar 2 will now release in cinemas on 1st August 2025 worldwide.”

No Official Reason, But ‘Saiyaara’ Impact Suspected

While the production team has not revealed any specific reason for the delay, industry experts speculate that the tremendous box office success of Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara may have played a part. The film reportedly collected ₹45 crore within its first two days, potentially influencing the makers of Son of Sardaar 2 to avoid a direct box office clash.

What to Expect from the Sequel

Son of Sardaar 2 is the sequel to the 2012 hit of the same name, bringing back Ajay Devgn as Jassi in a fresh, comedy-packed adventure set against the scenic beauty of Scotland.

Star-Studded Cast

Alongside Ajay Devgn, the film features:

  • Mrunal Thakur in a romantic lead role opposite Devgn
  • Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, and Nav Ghotra in key supporting roles

The sequel’s plot promises to blend laughter with emotion. A key subplot follows 12-year-old Aarav and his friends as they embark on a whimsical quest during a mango festival to find a rare golden mango, bringing in elements of nostalgia, innocence, and warmth.

Final Word

With Saiyaara currently dominating screens and audience attention, the decision to shift Son of Sardaar 2’s release may well prove strategic. Fans will now have to wait just one extra week to see the return of Jassi on the big screen.
