Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, known for his discipline, work ethic, and prolific output, has responded candidly to ongoing criticism about his decision to do four films a year. Speaking in a recent interview, Kumar stated that his passion for cinema and love for diverse roles fuel his drive—and he sees no reason to slow down.

“Why Should I Stop If I’m Getting Work?”
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, the 56-year-old actor was clear in his stance:
“I like it. I enjoy playing different characters—and why not? Some people complain about me doing four films a year, but I don’t see the reason why I shouldn’t. If I’m getting work, I’m doing it.”
Kumar emphasized that just like any working professional, he prefers to stay engaged rather than sit idle:
“A person has to work and go to the office every day; he can’t just sit at home and say, ‘Ab main thoda ruk jaata hoon.’ I want to work.”
Variety of Roles and Creative Fulfillment
The actor further explained that each film offers a unique storytelling experience, allowing him to collaborate with different directors and explore new characters.
“I want to play those characters, get to work with so many directors and tell stories that haven’t been told. It gives me a lot of happiness.”
Akshay recently starred in ‘Sarfira’, ‘Sky Force’, and the biographical drama on C. Sankaran Nair, among others. He’s also part of the massive ensemble cast of ‘Housefull 5’.
‘Welcome To The Jungle’ Faces Delay
While Akshay continues to work at full throttle, his upcoming project ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ is reportedly facing a major production setback. The film, which began shooting in December 2023, has seen no progress in the last 9–10 months, with reports citing financial troubles.
According to Pinkvilla, a significant portion of the film remains unshot, and several cast members are yet to be paid, stalling further production.
Final Word — “I’ll Keep Going As Long As I Can”
In a time where many actors are limiting themselves to one or two releases a year, Akshay Kumar’s four-film formula stands out. And as long as audiences keep watching, and directors keep calling, Kumar seems determined to stay on set.
“Some movies work, and some don’t. But I’m happy as long as I get to act, create, and learn. That’s what matters.”
