Aligarh farmer dies in bee attack, 4th death in 2 months in UP

Hathras (UP), Apr 2 (PTI) A 55-year-old farmer attacked by a swarm of bees in Aligarh died at a hospital in Hathras on Thursday, police said.

This is the fourth such death in the state in two months.

The incident took place in Kamawali village in Aligarh’s Iglas area when the victim, identified as Manohar Lal, was working in his field with family members.

According to officials, bees emerged from a tree and attacked him.

Hearing his cries, nearby farmers rushed to his help and dispersed the bees, but by then he had lost consciousness.

He was first taken home and later rushed to the district hospital in Hathras, where doctors declared him dead.

Iglas is closer to Hathras district hospital than Aligarh district hospital.

Police have sent the body for a postmortem.

Fatal bee attacks have been reported from various parts of the state in recent weeks.

On March 23, a 60-year-old farmer, Saheb Singh, died in Mainpuri after bees attacked him while he was working in a chilli field.

On March 10, a 55-year-old devotee, Sant Ram, died, and two others were injured in a similar incident at a temple in Ambedkar Nagar.

On February 19, a 65-year-old umpire, Manik Gupta, died, and several players were injured after a swarm of bees attacked them during a cricket match in Unnao. PTI COR KIS ASD ASD ASD
