New Delhi, Jan 29 (PTI) — Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Thursday said “all is good” and he is on the “same page” with the party leadership after meeting Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi at Parliament.

The hour-long meeting in Kharge’s chamber was also attended by Congress general secretary K C Venugopal. Speaking to reporters afterward, Tharoor described the discussion as “very good, constructive, positive” and reiterated that he is aligned with the top leadership.

Asked whether the chief ministerial face for the upcoming Kerala assembly elections was discussed, Tharoor said it was never the issue. “I am not interested in being the candidate for anything. At the moment I am already an MP, I have the trust of my voters from Thiruvananthapuram. I have their interest to look after in Parliament, that is my job,” he said.

Tharoor had skipped a key party strategy meeting last week, reportedly upset over Rahul Gandhi not acknowledging his presence at the ‘Maha Panchayath’ event in Kochi on January 19, where local body poll winners were felicitated. Sources said this, along with repeated attempts by state leaders to “sideline” him, contributed to his disappointment.

Last year, a row had erupted over Tharoor’s comments on the India-Pakistan conflict and diplomatic outreach following the Pahalgam attack, which were seen as differing from the party’s official stance. Tharoor, however, has maintained that there is no divergence on foreign policy and emphasized the need for bipartisanship.

On Friday, Kharge is set to chair a key meeting with Kerala leaders to finalize the party strategy for the assembly elections.
