Television actor Dipika Kakar is set to undergo a medical procedure after doctors detected a 13-mm (1.3 cm) cyst, as per an update shared by her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, in a recent YouTube vlog. Dipika, who has been recovering from liver cancer treatment, was advised hospitalisation for a short stay as the doctors plan to address the cyst this week.

What happened

Shoaib said Dipika had been experiencing mild stomach pain for two days, which worsened on Friday night, prompting a hospital visit and a CT scan. The couple shared that while other parameters appeared normal, the discovery triggered concern given Dipika’s recent medical history.

Reports describe the cyst’s location differently—some refer to it as a stomach cyst, while others mention it in the liver area—but all note the size and the planned intervention. Shoaib added that doctors have recommended a minor procedure (described by the couple as “burning” the cyst), not a major surgery, with an expected 3–4 day hospital stay. The procedure is scheduled for Tuesday (based on the Sunday update).

Background

Dipika previously underwent surgery in June 2025, and she has publicly shared that around 22% of her liver was removed along with the tumour. In earlier updates, she has also spoken about treatment-related side effects including thyroid fluctuations, mouth ulcers and hair fall.

What’s next

The couple said doctors will review her condition post-procedure and reassess the ongoing treatment plan, with immunotherapy being discussed as a possible next step.
