Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has reignited hope among fans for a sequel to the 2011 sci-fi superhero film Ra.One, revealing in a new interview that he has been in talks with Shah Rukh Khan about bringing the story back. The biggest roadblock so far, he said, has been SRK’s packed schedule—until now. Speaking to a leading entertainment portal on February 17, 2026, Anubhav gave a strong hint that Ra.One 2 could finally move forward.
When asked directly about the long-delayed sequel, he replied:
“Shah Rukh has been married to his current schedule for the last many years. But now he’s looking at a 3-year marriage—meaning he has committed the next three years to fewer, more focused projects. That window has opened up. We’ve spoken about it again recently. Let’s see… the story is still alive in both our heads.”
Why Ra.One 2 Still Matters
Released in 2011, Ra.One was India’s most expensive film at the time (₹150–240 crore budget estimates) and the first big-budget Indian superhero movie with Hollywood-level VFX. Despite mixed reviews, it became a cult favourite for many—especially children who grew up idolising G.One (Shah Rukh’s heroic avatar) and fearing the menacing Ra.One (also SRK). The film ended on a cliffhanger with G.One’s son Jenny (Armaan Verma) hinting at future threats, leaving the door wide open for a sequel.
Anubhav confirmed the story outline has evolved:
