Morigaon (Assam), Jul 14 (PTI) A woman was arrested and heroin worth Rs 5 crore seized from her possession in Assam’s Morigaon district on Monday, police said.
The 25-year-old woman, hailing from Manipur, was arrested near Jagiroad railway station, a police officer said.
“She reached Jagiroad this morning by bus from Manipur and was found loitering around the railway station when she was apprehended based on suspicion,” he said.
Police seized 104.5 gm of heroin, concealed in nine soap boxes, strapped to her body.
“The seized heroin is estimated to be worth around Rs 5 crore,” the officer said, adding that an investigation is underway to find out if any larger network is involved. PTI COR SSG SSG ACD
