BTS are taking their long-awaited full-group return straight to a global audience, with Netflix announcing an exclusive live concert stream and a companion documentary that follows the making of their next era.

What’s happening

1) A live comeback concert — streamed worldwide

The live event is titled “BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG” and will stream exclusively on Netflix on March 21.

The concert is set in Seoul at Gwanghwamun Square, near Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Start time

  1. 8:00 pm KST, 4:00 am PT / 7:00 am ET
  2. For India, this corresponds to 4:30 pm IST (as carried by Indian listings).

Netflix also notes the livestream is included in all plans.

2) A feature-length documentary right after

A documentary film titled BTS: THE RETURN premieres on March 27.

Netflix describes it as a behind-the-scenes companion piece chronicling the group’s return and the making of ARIRANG, with segments that include the band regrouping to work in Los Angeles.

The film is directed by Bao Nguyen (credited for The Greatest Night in Pop).

The album link: why this comeback is structured like an “event week”

Netflix says the new studio album ARIRANG drops on March 20, and the concert the next day will feature the first live performances of songs from it.

Who’s behind the production

The livestream will be directed by Hamish Hamilton, best known for large-scale live TV event work.

Netflix also says it has partnered with HYBE to bring the comeback to the platform.

Tickets and viewing: what’s confirmed vs still pending

  1. Confirmed: Live stream is on Netflix, exclusive, and “included in all plans.”
  2. Not yet detailed: Netflix says to “check back” for more specifics on how to watch the live stream and on ticket information.

What comes next: world tour

After the livestream, Netflix says BTS will launch an “ARIRANG World Tour” spanning 34 regions with 82 shows worldwide.

Why this comeback is a big deal

Netflix frames the return as the group’s first live concert in roughly three years, following a hiatus linked to South Korea’s mandatory military service requirements.
